Cubierta Solar – Pioneer in coplanar industrial photovoltaic projects

◇ Objetive: Innovation in design, technologies and installations to increase the industry’s commitment to photovoltaic energy.

Coplanar photovoltaic structures are a type of support structure with no added inclination, which is why they are usually installed on sloping roofs to obtain the maximum yield from solar incidence. The anchoring system is carried out by means of ‘L’ shaped fixings and gives stability and simplicity to its assembly, being, at the same time, the most economical solution and with the least visual impact.

◇ Timing: These are individual projects, designed according to the needs of each company. The coplanar structure has a faster construction process compared to triangular installations. Also, the coplanar installation uses aluminium as the main material, which is lighter than steel.

◇ Impacts obtained or expected:

  • Faster and simpler assembly.
  • Lower cost (as less material and labour is needed).
  • It maximises the installed power by allowing the placement of a large number of modules (there are no gaps between rows, except for a minimum corridor for maintenance tasks).
  • The solar panels are not affected by wind suction, as they do not contribute to the sail effect.
  • They allow for architectural integration.

Cubierta Solar is a company specialising in photovoltaic self-consumption for the industrial sector. Since its inception, the company has been committed to innovation and the search for new solutions capable of turning industry into a driver of sustainability through more efficient and environmentally friendly production.

The company was a pioneer in the installation of coplanar solar roofs on the roofs of factories and industrial buildings. A different formula that allows companies a greater integration of solar energy in their facilities, gaining efficiency, savings, sustainability, as well as obtaining other benefits such as better insulation in their production spaces.

This innovation was recognised with the ‘R+D+i Award’ from the Generalitat Valenciana in 2012 and has led it to undertake important projects at a national level. Cubierta Solar currently has more than 50MWp installed through innovative and benchmark installations on roofs, photovoltaic pergolas, canopies for parking areas, among other solutions, with which it has contributed to reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by more than 12,000 tonnes per year.

All the projects designed and executed by Cubierta Solar make use of the sun’s energy to generate savings, move towards more sustainable manufacturing and an original and efficient design.
